Fast, Accurate Water Potential Measurements Use the WP4C to measure water potential in 5 to 10 minutes.  Range: -0.1 to -300 MPa* Versatile The WP4C can be used to measure the water potential of any porous material.  It"s typically used to analyze soil, soilless substrates, plant material, and seeds, but it has been used to measure a variety of unusual things, including apples, bricks, oil, and insect carapaces. Easy Operation Simply place the sample in a round sample cup (4cm in diameter and 1cm tall) and set the cup in the lexan sample drawer, slide in the drawer and turn the knob to seal the chamber.  After about 5 minutes, the WP4C will beep and show your final water potential reading. Precise Mode Measurements can be inaccurate if they"re made too soon.  When run in Precise Mode, the WP4C checks to make sure the sample has reached equilibrium before displaying a final reading. Faster Equilibration The WP4C"s nickel Teflon sample chamber coating is hydrophobic.  Less water absorption in the sample chamber means faster equilibrium. Finely Tuned Calibration The WP4C sensor is durable and easy to clean.  The instrument can be calibrated using saturated salt solutions (mix your own or order single-sample vials of standards on the accessories tab).  New algorithms let you fine-tune calibration for excellent accuracy (±0.05 MPa or better). Plug WP4C Data into HYPROP Data Evaluation Software The HYPROP FIT Software can be used to plug in water potentail data collected by the WP4C for fitting different water retention models (i.e. van Genuchten, van Genuchten Bimodal, Brooks & Corey). Chilled Mirror Dewpoint Technique The WP4C measures water potential by determining the relative humidity of the air above a sample in a closed chamber (an AOAC-approved method; also conforms to ASTM 6836).  Once the sample comes into equilibrium with the vapor in the WP4C"s sealed chamber, the instrument finds relative humidity using the chilled mirror method.  This method entails chilling a tiny mirror in the chamber until dew just starts to form on it.  At the dewpoint, the WP4C measures both mirror and sample temperature with 0.001°C accuracy. This allows the WP4C to deliver water potential readings with unparalleled accuracy in the -0.1 MPa to -300 MPa range Limitations The WP4C range goes to 0 MPa, but readings of samples wetter than -0.1 MPa will have an increasing, and typically unacceptable, percentage of error.  Some users may be able to make useful measurements in samples wetter than -0.1 MPa using special techniques.  For more information, see the WP4C User Manual. Limits of the Method At high water potentials, the temperature differences between saturated vapor pressure and the vapor pressure inside the sample chamber become vanishingly small.  Because of this, the WP4C can now resolve temperatures to a thousandth of a degree.  To read water potentials in the wet range (0 to -0.1 MPa), we recommend German manufacturer UMS"s fast response tensiometers and HYPROPmoisture release curve instrument.

The Vapor Sorption Analyzer (VSA) brings click-and-read efficiency to soil water characteristic curves (SWCC). In 24 to 48 hours, the VSA generates curves with up to 200 data points (water potential vs. water content) for both adsorption and desorption.  The VSA works in the dry (-10 to -475 MPa) range. Essentially, there are only two highly accurate ways to measure water potential—with a tensiometer or with vapor pressure. The tensiometer works in the wet range of water potential—from 0 to about -0.2 MPa. Vapor pressure methods work in the dry range of water potential—from about -0.1 MPa to -300 MPa (0.1 MPa is 99.93% RH; -300 MPa is 11%). With recent advances in technology, a skilled user with excellent methods and the best equipment can finally measure the full water potential range in the lab.The pressure plate doesn’t actually measure the water potential of a sample. Instead, it brings the sample to a specific water potential by applying pressure to the sample and allowing the excess water to flow out through a porous ceramic plate. When the sample comes to equilibrium, its water potential will be equivalent to the pressure applied.

Complete Moisture Characteristics in 3-5 Days HYPROP is a modular lab instrument that generates a moisture characteristic curve and determines the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of soil samples in standard 250 ml soil sampling rings. After setup, the system generates the moisture characteristic while running unattended. Highly Accurate Two precision mini-tensiometers measure water potential at different levels within the sample while the sample rests on a precision laboratory scale (2000 gram range; 0.01 gram resolution). As the sample dries, changes in water potential are correlated to changes in moisture content using the Wind/Schindler evaporation method. Verified Results Results are verified and values for dry range and saturation are calculated according to a selected model (i.e., van Genuchten/Mualem, Bimodal van Genuchten/Mualem, or Brooks and Corey.) Model parameters can be selected before, during, or after the measurement procedure. The advantage compared to other methods is that the hydraulic properties are determined during a natural drying process of the soil.HYPROP"s outstanding features are the simple handling and the modular setup. For a start up you just need the HYPROP starter set and a scale. Existing laboratory scales, minimum requirements are a serial connection and a measuring range of 2000 grams, can be integrated. This set can be extended to up to 20 sample units.Together with the correlation procedure you get a truly practical method which offers extraordinary results in the determination of hydraulic functions with low measuring expenditure.  

Biomark developed the robust HPR Plus reader from the ground up to incorporate features gleaned from feedback from the fish and wildlife community and our own Biological Services Department. The reader provides detection of ISO 11784/11785 FDX-B and HDX PIT tags and is waterproof.  

We have considerable experience in fabrication of HDPE Floating Jetties with Wooden Floor. The wooden floor on the Jetty enhances the asthetics and allows the structure to be in sync with the surroundings. The Floats used are the same as that in HDPE Floating Jetty. The GPR Plus provides the basic PIT tag reader function of reading and transmitting the identification code contained within a PIT tag. The black thumb-actuated power On/Read button activates the reader. A message “SEARCHING...” alerts the user that the reader is scanning for a tag within range. Once a tag is detected, an audible beeper along with the ID number in decimal format is displayed on the screen that alerts the user that the tag was successfully scanned. Power is provided to the GPR Plus through 7.2VDC NiMH rechargeable batteries or AAA alkaline batteries. The NiMH rechargeable batteries can be recharged using the detachable USB cable with an external wall adapter. A message "LOW BATTERY" alerts the user that the reader needs to be recharged or batteries replaced. The GPR Plus has a 3000 tag code memory capacity and includes a time/date stamp with each tag read.  The memory is easily downloaded using Biomark Tag Manager™ (see page 7) or BioTerm (see page 8). Wireless communication capability is provided to the GPR Plus through its Bluetooth® module. A Bluetooth visual indicator provides information about the wireless communication status. Once a tag is detected, the tag is automatically transmitted via this channel. The GPR Plus comes with a Windows® based PC utility program called GPR Plus Software which can be used to configure the reader and is available to download on our website. GPR Plus Software.
